I got home the other night. It was late. Dark. This is what I found on the porch.
Seriously? Who is there indeed?!
Yes that is a little dead bat my friends. The following morning I left the barn with a plan to try to bribe someone into removing the bat. I definitely failed, but I got home and the bat was gone! Total mystery.

Movie on the Barn
Finally after months of talking about it we held our first Movie on the Barn night. I'm going to say it was quite to very successful.
Quick synopsis:
We hung a king size white sheet on the barn.
We borrowed some equipment (a projector) from the physics department.
We invited everyone we know in the area.
The chosen movie was The Princess Bride. I think most people enjoy that movie, which helped to make the overall event successful. I was really glad everything worked according to plan. Even the weather was perfectly nice. Probably we will need to do this again, as long as Harjit isn't mad at us for leaving his ladder in the rain on saturday morning. For the next movie night I really want to show Juno, but if there are other suggestions I'm happy to hear them!

the haunted house
Yesterday the Barn Girls (yes we require capitalization) got together and cleaned/organized our storage space. Now things that we need to get to are actually accessible, and less important things are hidden away. Also, since Harjit was vacuuming the bat poop upstairs I decided to finally go see just what was up there. It was so awesome! If you haven't been to the upstairs of the barn you should really check it out. It smells pretty bad, but it is cool. I would post a picture, but I think venturing to the unknown is part of the adventure.

The Wonders of the Barn
The new game in the barn is: make a unique contribution.
Basically we are combining the belongings of four new barn girls into a barn that is already pretty self-sufficient. There are at least 8 cooking pans that are the same size, 8 cooking pans that are slightly smaller, 5 containers of salt, 4 packages of flour, 34 different ways of washing clothing, and a lot of expired food. The winner so far had an expiration date of 9/24/01. That is right folks, 2001! Amazing!
So far I have only won the game once, making the unique contribution of the giant muffin tin, which is very necessary in all kitchens.
The next game: convince my roommates that we need matching curtains in our bedrooms!

Day 1: From the Dome to the Barn
Welcome to The Barn Blog!
Yesterday was the big moving day. Although it may not seem obvious from the lack of posts, life in the dome will be missed. With the help of our strongest friends Laura and I moved down the hill. The dome is now just a shell of what used to be our home. The only thing that remains is the computer with our fast internet which, surprisingly enough, is finally working (thanks Jeb!).
Currently the barn is in the middle of moving chaos, and it will remain as such until Julie and Lisa join us. I guess I can't complain too much though, because it sure is nice to be surrounded by doors, walls, and right angles.
